Have a Flippin’ Great Pancake Tuesday

27th February 2017 | General

It’s that time of the year again folks, don your pinny and get creative in the kitchen!

Celebrate Pancake Tuesday with some tasty sweet and savoury combinations.  Astonishingly, around 52 million eggs are used in the UK on Pancake Day, which is 22 million more than usual!

The traditional way to eat them is straight from the pan to the plate, with lemon juice and a little dusting of sugar. But we’ve scoured the internet for some mouth-watering ideas, click here for the top 10 according to the BBC Good Food Guide –

If you want to play it safe and stick with a plain pancake though, follow this simple recipe:

Serving of 8 or so pancakes,
Ingredients:

  • 8oz of plain flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 pint of milk
  • A pinch of salt

Mix your ingredients together, whisking well.  Leave to stand for 30 minutes, then heat a little oil in a frying pan and pour enough batter to cover the base of your pan.  Let it cook until the base of your pancake is brown, then shake the pan to loosen the pancake and flip it over until brown on the other side.  Hey presto, it’s as simple as that!

From Nutella and fruit to American style syrup and bacon stacks, whatever you opt for, savour your perfect pancake!

We’d love to see pics of your creation.  Feel free to tweet us @kitchen_stori or tag us on our Kitchen Stori Instagram or Facebook pages.
