Real Kitchen Focus – A Contemporary Classic in Strandhill

Flannery Kitchens, a renowned kitchen specialist and one of our approved STORI Retailers based in Co. Sligo has once again proven their expertise and creativity in delivering exceptional spaces. This time, they have completed an exquisite project for a family in the picturesque town of Strandhill.

Marrying Modernity with Timelessness

The family had a vision of a contemporary yet classic open-plan kitchen-living area that would complement their home’s architecture while providing a serene ambience inspired by their breathtaking countryside views. Flannery Kitchens brought this vision to life with their masterful design, using our signature Wakefield range.

A traditional shaker door style, boasting a distinctive beaded centre panel and a rich woodgrain, Wakefield adds contrast to the modern architecture of the family’s new build, striking a harmonious balance between contemporary aesthetics and timeless elegance. The family opted for an on-trend and calming colour combination of two STORI exclusive paint shades, Shell and Cardamom to mirror the tranquillity of their coastal surroundings. The soft beige and muted green pair beautifully together creating a welcoming feel within this bright and airy open-plan space.

Harmonious Styling

The soft white walls and porcelain floor tiles provide a neutral canvas, allowing the cabinetry to shine within this Real Kitchen project. Subtly marbled worktops with a matching full-height backsplash create a flawless finish whilst adding a further touch of luxury to the space. The contemporary double panelled kitchen canopy elegantly complements the cornice topping the wall cupboards, tying the sophisticated look together. A tea & coffee station is concealed neatly out of site behind bifold doors, crowned with plain glazed top box cabinets, perfect for displaying decorative pieces.

Texture and warmth are added throughout the space with both metallic and wood accents. For subtle grandeur, Antique Brass hardware is dotted throughout the room including knurled handles, plug sockets, a Quooker tap and wall lights. Natural texture is added with timber design elements including slatted panelling, the internals of the cabinetry and elevated design features such as the solid oak wine rack, chopping board and tray sets & wine glass holder, creating focal points throughout the space. The pearlescent pendant globes suspended above the island provide another layer of opulence taking advantage of the kitchen’s vaulted ceiling.

Where Function Meets Aesthetics

The family’s new kitchen effortlessly blends style with practicality with a space uniquely designed around their lifestyle. Built-in Neff Slide & Hide ovens paired with purposely positioned drawers underneath, provide cooking and baking convenience with muffin trays and roasting trays within arm’s reach, maximising the kitchen’s efficient layout. An induction hob blends seamlessly with the countertops for a clean linear look complementing the cabinetry’s shaker style. Whilst strategically placed solid oak tray and chopping board sets are nearby for ease of food prep and serving.

The breathtaking dual-height island featuring a waterfall worktop not only provides additional seating for casual breakfasts and social chats whilst preparing meals but ample storage with a run of drawers housed to one side. The lowered sink completes the inclusive design for this accessibility-friendly kitchen space.

Beyond the Kitchen

Flannery Kitchens expertise extends beyond the kitchen incorporating an intimate built-in dining area featuring two benches, tongue and groove panelling and marble tabletop and the scenic view for its backdrop. A media unit in the adjoining living area provides additional storage with three drawers and display shelving for ornaments and photo frames.

The furniture beautifully mirrors the kitchen’s theme for continuity across the large open-plan space with the same tranquil colour palette and key design elements. This thoughtful approach ensures a seamless transition between spaces and creates a harmonious flow throughout the ground floor.
